MANILA, Philippines - Drug maker Dapoxetine API Ltd. (Dapoxetine) has been accused of using a potent generic version of the popular prescription drug Priligy, and has been suspended from the market by the United States Food and Drug Administration.
Dapoxetine was approved by the FDA in August 2005, but the drug’s active ingredient is dapoxetine hydrochloride, and the other ingredients are a combination tablet and an oral tablet.
Dapoxetine was initially approved for the treatment of premature ejaculation (PE) in 1998, and since then it has been used to treat PE and to control erectile dysfunction. This drug has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of PE and to treat erectile dysfunction in adult men.
